Meet Our Event Manager, Gayle Powers

Our Event Manager Gayle Powers brings extensive experience in the hospitality industry and an unparalleled passion for events to the Trumpet Vine Team.

A California native, Gayle was raised on the Central Coast. Starting in her father’s restaurant, she knew hospitality was in her nature. After high school she moved to Chico for college, where she began working in a high profile floral shop, which focused on weddings, along with other restaurant jobs to make ends meet. Gayle also studied business in Torino, Italy for 5 months before receiving her Bachelor’s in Recreation Administration with a concentration in Special Event Management and a minor in Business Administration at California State University, Chico.

After a floral internship in San Francisco for the well-respected Michael Daigian Designs, she returned to the Central Coast as an Event Specialist and Weddings Division Manager for a large volume catering company. While at that company, she was able to develop her skills and gain experience in the local thriving wedding community.

Gayle’s fervor, eagerness to please, and attention to detail are instrumental to making each event a success at Trumpet Vine Catering. She is as devoted to each event as the next and strives for perfection in every aspect of event planning.

In the off season Gayle enjoys camping, cooking, prepping for her garden for the spring, wrangling her chickens and sharing the fruits of her labor with all she loves.

Harvest Wine Festival at Pianetta Winery

As Paso Robles’ 130+ wineries welcome the new vintage, we will be celebrating Harvest Festival with the fine folks at  Pianetta Winery this Saturday. Check out their Tuscan inspired family style menu and be sure to stop by their tasting room in downtown Paso Robles this weekend.

Cheese Three Ways

 As part of our quest to make each menu reflective of our couple’s tastes, we invite them to visit the lovely folks at  Vivant Fine Cheese in Paso Robles where they can sample cheeses from around the world.  After selecting 5-7 of their favorites, we know exactly what to order for their wedding day. Cheeses are displayed on our rustic wooden tables with origin or wine pairing suggestions for each, thus providing an educational component for guests while they graze.

But wait, there is more.   Our Tour de Torte has been a crowd favorite for years.  They look pretty and their creamy texture  make them ”user friendly” to enjoy.  Made with a blend of three cheeses, the tortes are layered with colorful savory or  sweet fillings ranging from pesto and sun-dried tomato to  fresh fig and crispy prosciutto to dried cherry and spiced pecan. 

And finally, our new favorite is the Mozzarella Tasting.  Guests can sample a variety of mozzarellas, ranging from fresh to smoked to buffalo, along with pestos, roasted grapes, chutneys and other condiments.

Real Wedding: Kelsey and Aaron at HammerSky Vineyards

Last fall, we had the pleasure of catering Kelsey and Aaron’s  wedding at one of our favorite venues, HammerSky Vineyards. Salt Block Cooking

Looking for something unique and interactive for your event? Trumpet Vine has discovered a new way to prepare and serve food for events that will wow your guests and their palates, Salt Block Cooking. This global cuisine concept involves grilling food atop pink Himalayan salt blocks. The salt block concentrates flavor into meat by drawing out moisture and leaving food perfectly seasoned. Did we mention this whole process looks cool? Because it looks really cool! The 600-million-year-old salt block is not only gorgeous and luminous but a great conversation starter; it’s not every day that you’re eating food off something that is older than the land you’re standing on!

Leftovers for Lovers

Does anyone really get to eat at their own wedding? With all the people, formalities, and excitement, taking 5 minutes to enjoy a meal often goes to the wayside. It’s important to us that all our couples enjoy the full Trumpet Vine experience and that’s why we offer “Leftovers for Lovers.” A unique Trumpet Vine service, “Leftovers for Lovers” features an insulated picnic basket stuffed full of appetizers and dishes from the reception menu. We make sure this send-off picnic gets tucked into the getaway car at the end of the evening so our newlyweds can munch and relax privately back at their suite. When it is all said and done, our couples have a little memento from their wedding caterer to last a lifetime.

We are excited to be part of Sunset’s “Savor the Central Coast” concert with Colbie Caillat at the beautiful Vina Robles Amphitheater later this month. Trumpet Vine will be providing wine-friendly picnics bags as one of the evening’s dining options.

Each picnic-to-go will include a savory fig and blended cheese torte, crostini, charcuterie, Castelvetrano olives, and a farro salad with dried cherries, pistachios, grilled raddichio and truffle vinaigrette. Our vegetarian alternative to charcuterie includes hummus, tzatziki and falafel. Each picnic bag also will be accompanied by a bottle of Vina Robles wine.

In Support of Same Sex Marriage

We were surprised to recently receive an inquiry from a potential client asking if we catered same-sex weddings.  Of course we do!

We’ve had the pleasure of catering several same-sex marriages over the years.  Regardless of orientation, we believe all unions are an awe-inspiring example of love that is shared by all of our clients. We are beyond excited to continue supporting marriage equality one memorable and delicious wedding dinner at a time.

The Brunch Reception

The traditional “day after brunch” is getting a new time slot.    One of our favorite wedding trends is the “breakfast for dinner” concept.  Much like the “comfort” craze, breakfast foods inspire that familiar nostalgia that gives us the warm fuzzy feeling.  From a “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” inspired menu for a daytime reception to a “Sophisticated Southern” evening extravaganza we love how our couples are inspired to use “breakfast for dinner” as a way to express the energy and style of their wedding.

Brunch themed receptions also give a twist to traditional bar offerings.  In lieu of wine and beer, a chef-attended Bloody Mary or mimosa bar, where guests can add a variety of garnishes makes for a great visual presentation and encourages mingling.

Custom Wedding Signage

One of our unique wedding services is signage. We source funky pieces that we can print menus on for your welcome refreshment station, dinner and bar.  These can also feature a love note, favorite poem or other fun text on them.  Our in house calligrapher (and long time event manager, Tambra Freeborn) prints on them in various styles to coordinate with the event theme and colors.  This is another way we work with you to personalize your wedding day, making it a memorable experience for you and your guests.
