Jennie Sturgeon never envisioned her calling would be running her own catering business, but fate proved otherwise in 2004 when she landed a position assisting Trumpet Vine Catering’s original owner, Jill Ogorsolka. Over the next four years, under Jill’s incredible mentorship, Jennie developed her leadership skills and learned all she could about the catering business. She immersed herself in the industry by taking catering classes, honing her cooking technique, working both the front and back of the house, as well as coordinating her own events outside of Trumpet Vine. In 2007, Jennie joined Jill as a business partner, and went on to buy her out the following year.

Jennie attributes the continued success of Trumpet Vine in large part to her talented staff, amazing vendors and supportive family. In 2011, her husband and plumbing contractor extraordinaire, Brian, completed construction on Trumpet Vine’s current Paso Robles location which is now home to their commercial kitchen, meeting and office space. In 2009, her mother-in-law, Janet, joined the company to handle all human resource and bookkeeping needs. A strong believer in the importance of collaboration and sharing success with those around her, Jennie has groomed service staff and others for increased responsibility and promotion from within the company.

With an unusual combination of “type A” personality traits, a highly creative spirit, and a penchant to please others, Jennie can’t imagine having planned a better career path for herself. “Catering allows me to have a balance between creative chaos and extreme organization.”

Following her graduation from UCLA in 2000, Jennie spent a year in New York working for AOL, and then relocated back to Los Angeles to work as an executive assistant in the entertainment industry. There, she worked behind the scenes of TV shows, movies, and on-stage productions. Her job involved managing complex schedules and logistics while maintaining positive relations with a highly demanding clientele. She left the Los Angeles scene in 2004 to pursue the Central Coast dream with her soon to be husband, Brian.

In her time away from the business, Jennie enjoys dining out, all things food related on television, and spoiling her three dogs. Jennie and Brian welcomed their first son in March 2014.
